Why Chinese shouldn't have Christian names?‏

Why Chinese shouldn't have Christian names:

Anne Chang (Mandarin)-Dirty
Anne Chin (Mandarin) - Keep quiet
Faye Chen (Mandarin) - Dusty
Carl Cheng (Hokkien) - Buttock
Monica Cheng (Hokkien) - Touching your buttocks
Lucy Leow (Hokkien) - You are dead
Jane Tan (Mandarin) - Frying eggs
Suzie Leow (Hokkien) - Lost till death
Henry Mah (Mandarin) - Hate your mum
Corrine Tai (Hokkien) - Poor fellow
Paul Chan (Mandarin) - Bankrupt
Nelson Tan (Mandarin) - Bird laying eggs
Leslie Tong (Mandarin) - Rubbish bin
Carmen Teng (Hokkien) - Leg hair long
Connie Mah (Cantonese) - Call your mother
Danny See (Hokkien) - Squeeze you to death
Rosie Teng (Hokkien) - Screws and nails
Pete Tsai (Hokkien) - Nose droppings
Macy Koh (Cantonese) - Never die before

This is the reason why Chinese shouldn't simply give name to their next generation especially Christian name. There are a lot of dialects in Chinese society, such as Hakka, Hokkien, Cantonese, ..... Some of the pronunciation could be the same for certain dialects but it might come out with different meanings. This is what we called " The Power of Languages.

Good News From Our Cabinet - PTPTN interest rates is reduced from 3% to 1%

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/8/14/nation/22079534&sec=nation

For all the PTPTN loan holders, please read the above news for your own information. Indeed, it is a good news from our cabinet.

In my opinon, it is very very hard for those who have just graduated to deal with the great dept from PTPTN. Everything seems so expensive now, and with just RM 2k (that’s the average pay for fresh graduates), they cannot really survive especially during this economy downturn period.

Imagine for people who borrowed 52k from PTPTN. With 3% interest, the monthly administration fee is about RM 130 and the amount needed to pay is RM 323.43 per month. So net amount paid per month would be RM 193.43 out of RM 52k. So, if pay for this month and not the following 2 months, the total amount will be like this:

RM 52000 + RM 130 - RM 323.43 + 2 (RM130) = RM 52066.57
The amount paid RM 323.43 will become NOTHING as the net amount will be back to
> RM 52k.

So let us see the new interest rate, 1% out of RM 52k is RM 520. Which means for 1 month, just only need to pay RM 43.33 for interest charge/administration fee.

Now, if pay with RM 323.43 per month
RM 52000 + RM 43.33 - RM 323.43 = RM 51719.90

So how many months can go on without paying before my RM 323.43 got swallowed up by the interest?

RM 52000 - RM 51719.90 = RM 280.1 ….around 6 months.

2 months as compared to the new 6 months. Is not that good?

p/s : the above calculation is refered from website. I would like to share this good news and also want to let you all know the proper calculation method.

Thanks.

Cops shoot dead four robbers

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/8/29/nation/20080829144823&sec=nation

Our police force had done a great job by shooting down 4 idiotic robbers this morning 5.30 am !
It was definitely a good news for all the citizens. These 4 robbers committed in 19 robberies in Ampang and Kuala Kubu Baru in Selangor as well as in Negri Sembilan and Malacca over the past month. Obviously, they had lost their peace of mind and never think about the consequences of their actions.

We cannot deny that money is very important, we can't even survive without it. We should make and earn the money legally with the proper way. As a civilized person, we have the responsibility to keep our society hormoniously.

Malaysian ended a 12 year title drought for a medal in Badminton

Lee Chong Wei may have lost in his final of the Olympics but his return in Malaysia is similar to one he would have had if he had grabbed Gold. He is still bringing Malaysia’s only medal for the games. Although the participation of our country in the 29th Beijing Olimpic did not bear much fruit but the world comes to know of Malaysia through sport personalities like Lee Chong Wei. Lee Chong Wei is Malaysia’s Hero. He is not only brought glorious to our country he also showed the true case of the spirit of Malaysia. Notice how he kissed the Jalur Gemilang twice after his win in the semi-finals. He came back to his home country and got the honors he deserved, being welcomed by top officials and government top figures. The Malaysian ended a 12 year title drought for a medal in Badminton for his country and grabbed an historical Silver medal in the men’s single event. Lee Chong Wei is a role model for us. We must try our best and be tough in pursuing our future.

Flash floods after downpour

http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2008/8/29/central/1907849&sec=central

“It had been raining for several days and rainwater had caused the ground to be saturated. As a result, there was extra water run-off. This is not only happening in the city centre, but also in Petaling Jaya and Kajang,” Hooi, the reporter of StarMetro said.

Flash floods at city area especially Kuala Lumpur is no longer a hot news as before. It happens quite frequently and now even become a crisis for the local government. This flash floods caused massive traffic congestion at many major roads at KL during the afterwork rush hours. This situation left a bad impact to the foreigner.

But, the good news is that the city will have seven more long-term flood mitigation projects at various flood-prone areas, including Jalan Travers and Jalan Chan Sow Lin. It is a good try and ideal solution from the authorities concerned. So, i sincerely hope that our government project in solving this problem will come out a success.

Hysteria

http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v3/news_lite.php?id=352115

According to the report from Bernama, there are 35 students from SMK Tanjung Lumpur, Kuantan suffering from hysteria. The students kept on screaming and yielding "I want fresh blood and flesh". It is really an unbelievable case that i ever seen. This news really astonished and frightened me!

Actually i not so sure what is Hysteria. After checking from wikipedia, hysteria, in its colloquial use, describes a state of mind, one of unmanageable fear or emotional excesses. The fear is often caused by multiple events in one's past that involved some sort of severe conflict; the fear can be centered on a body part or most commonly on an imagined problem with that body part (disease is a common complaint). People who are "hysterical" often lose self-control due to the overwhelming fear.

Something like "merasuk hantu". Before this i am not so believe in these things but after reading the article, it totally change my mindset. Although there is no any sceintic can prove that the existance of ghost but it really happens in our real live. So, we better to prevent it by fastening tight our own religion and believe.

Must educate our new generation since young

The Statistic

Rape of women by men, by perpetrator

Perpetrator Frequency

Steady dating partner 21.6%
Casual friend 16.5%
Ex-boyfriend 12.2%
Acquaintance 10.8%
Close friend 10.1%
Casual date 10.1%
Husband 7.2%
Stranger 2%

Rape of men by women

Perpetrator Frequency

Steady dating partner 18.6%
Casual friend 4.1%
Ex-girlfriend 22.6%
Acquaintance 3.1%
Close friend 9.4%
Casual date 2.2%
Wife 13.2%
Stranger 1.1%

The above statistic list out the main perpetrators that commited in illegal raping case. Related to the article that i read last few days, a schoolgirl had been raped by her close friend after having their supper at "mamak stall". What actually happened to our teenagers nowadays?

In my point of view, the education department should stress more on sex education among students since they are young. Sex education should start during primary school time. It must stress more on how to protect our own body and expose to the new generation the true meaning of sex. According the research, most of the teenagers that committed in raping are because of the curiosity. If we study sex from the scope of science, sex education has a close relation with psychotherapy. Lastly, i strongly agree the education department launch the proper sex education to our youngster.

'Farting' Gas is Flammable !!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flatulence

The scientific name of farting is flatulence. Basically, there are 2 groups of gases in our flatulence. The 1st one is odorless gases and the 2nd one is odor gases. Before this, lets see the composition of our daily flatulence gases.

The olfactory components of flatulence include skatole, indole, and sulfurous compounds. The non-odorous gases are mainly nitrogen (ingested), carbon dioxide (produced by aerobic microbes or ingested), and hydrogen (produced by some microbes), as well as lesser amounts of oxygen (ingested) and methane (produced by anaerobic microbes).

Flatus is flammable, as both methane and hydrogen are flammable gases. The odor in flatulence comes from hydrogen sulphide (from foods in the diet) and other sulfur- or nitrogen-containing compounds including methanethiol (methyl mercaptan). Upon lighting a match the hydrogen sulphide will ignite to form water (vapor) and sulphur dioxide. Removing the hydrogen sulphide may also remove the odor, although this has been disputed.

After reading the article, i just realise that why does our fart sometimes is odor but sometimes is odorless. All of these are due to the chemical reaction in our stomach. Out of the blue, the hydrogen sulphide that release along with flatulence is the main cause of the smelly gases. Last, the most humour thing is that our farting gas may cause our buttock on fire !! This is because the "gas" contains methane and hydrogen !
